Welfare and Storage Area

The Snowflake Trust Ltd (the Trust) is applying for Planning Permission for change of use for the “Rooms under the Pier”. The Trust proposes to use the premises as a Welfare and Storage area for homeless individuals. The unit is as existing, and no extensions are proposed as part of the application. No part of the proposal will be visible from the main streetscene of the Eversfield Place Seafront.

The Welfare Area, which will include shower facilities and laundry facilities, will be accessed by appointment only and there will always be a representative of the Trust on site when open. Only those using the services will be able to access the site which will be limited to 2 people. Those waiting for laundry will be permitted to wait on the site, it will not be a place for people to commune or loiter. We are proposing to open Monday to Sunday, 9am to 2pm.

The necessary Risk Assessments will be carried out to ensure the safety of the Trust’s Representatives, users, and general public. It will be a valuable asset for those with housing difficulties and a much-needed resource for Hastings and St Leonards.
